In honor of this year’s Rare Disease Day theme, “Patient Voice,” we are excited to launch an Expression of Hope e-book showcasing 10 years of moving and inspiring artwork produced by the lysosomal storage disorder (LSD) community. The e-book also includes an in-depth look at some of the artists behind Expression of Hope, who share their personal stories about how producing their artwork has shaped their experience.
Since rare diseases are at the heart of what we do, Rare Disease Day is extremely meaningful to us. It motivates, inspires and connects us at Genzyme not only as colleagues joined by our profession, but as individuals with a desire to participate in a global community dedicated to improving the lives of people affected by rare diseases.
February 29, 2016, marks the 9th annual International Rare Disease Day, and as in past years, Genzyme will host a series of events around the world in locations where the company has a presence. In Massachusetts, employees will run an Olympic-style relay connecting six Sanofi-Genzyme sites over a 45-mile course near Boston. Fund-raising events will be held at each stop to support the National Organization for Rare Disorders (NORD).
Globally, Sanofi Genzyme employees will partner with local patient organizations in activities that will heighten awareness of rare diseases and offer the chance to educate health policymakers, medical professionals, patients and caregivers, and the public at large, and urge them to become involved in advocacy opportunities.
